These LED lights operate on 2 small button cell batteries (type CR2032). The batteries are included and are packed in a silicone protective case, which ensures that water is less likely to reach the battery during heavy rain showers. You do have to remove the plastic protectors between the batteries, these ensure that the batteries do not discharge during transport.
